Hands down.....

..the WORST experience of my life. I've had a lot of procedures and that is the worst.

The stupid nurse convinced me to do it without sedation. My nose was prepped with the numbing spray (that was vile), then i went into the Endoscopy room where they sprayed my nose again. It was running down my throat, tasted hideous. Then it started. I was laying on my side and she started to put the camera up my nose, but it frigging hurt, it hurt like hell. She changed nostrils and tried again - that killed too. She then went to grab the sedation stuff and i said i would try again... This time i persevered with the pain and it got to the back of my throat and that was it....i pulled the fucker out, couldn't cope. With pulling it out, i created possibly the best nose bleed ever. Which, an hour and a half later is still bleeding.

So - Endoscopy - FAIL.
...BUT AT LEAST I TRIED.

Up your nose. Wtf. Ive never heard of it being done that way, I wonder what the reasons are. Having it down the throat was traumatic enough, but through your nose.. Gees! Anyway, on a positive note, well done for trying. Sounds as though you gave it your best shot. I was pushing my guy off me the whole time, they ended up holding me down in the end.. I was a right mess, so I totally get why you pulled it out, I think its a natural reaction when something isn't where its supposed to be!!

Have you had x-rays and stuff, maybe something less evasive would still be helpful?

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon xx

What didn't help is the women who was doing it was a right heartless biatch. No sense of compassion at all...

Apparently the nose is easier and it stops the gag reflex. Um...NO IT DOESN'T!!! They said it was a thin tube that goes up. Um...NO IT WASN'T!!! It was thicker than a pen lid...

I've got to go back to the doctors now
and see where i go from here...

...hopefully not back there!!!

Totally in awe of you though - how you could do that? SO brave!

When I was last in hospital a women in a bed the opposite side had to have a drain in that went through her nose to her stomach.. I could hear her gagging the whole time, so yeah.. probably doesnt make a difference!
When I saw the size of the pipe that went down my throat I was like wtf, that big.. really?! Its horrible, gagging and stuff.. I dunno, maybe its a bit more traumatic for people who are already anxious to begin with? Ive read about it and spoken to ppl who have done it and while it wasn't pleasant for them either, they certainly coped better. I hope you're not disheartened or anything? Believe me, if I wasn't being held down I would have pulled that pipe out too!
Not sure what the thing is re sedatives, they were considering talking me out of it too, the only reason they didn't was because I was already crying!

Well done for going and trying, you've done your best with something thats incredibly hard xx

Gross! It's a hideous procedure to have done, surely with modern medicine, it could be make a LOT more tolerable.

They said not to have the sedation because it is meant to be quite quick...so no point.

I am thinking there IS a point to having it done, thats why the option is there!!!!

FFS..My nose is hurting so bad...

Oh well... ;)

Yes, i did try and that is ALL i could do.

Thank you Nikki...i appreciate your comments. Hope you're okay today xxxx

Sweet Sarah, OMG! Are you okay now? This is the most horrible thing I've read in a long long time! Nearly knocked me sick so I can only image how terrible it must have been for you this morning. You poor girl! What are these people thinking? What other time in life would anyone allow a person to violate them in such a way other than for a 'test'? Blurgh!!!!!!!!! I feel really traumatised on your behalf!

((BIG HUGS)) You were SO brave x

Let me put it this way. I hate the dentists, but I would rather sit in the dentists chair for 10 hours than go near that endoscopy clinic again.

I wish I could explain the pain as it went through the back of my nose, but there are no words.

Feeling better now thank you but still very sore.

Hope you're okay beautiful xxxx

Presumably this was being done for a reason. Modern medicine cannot eradicate pain and fools who tell you you were violated 'oh poor thing' are being stupid. You have the test to rule out treatable conditions. If you run out you run a risk. Get it sorted.

Of course it was being done for a reason, i would never have that done for "FUN".

I'm going to have the test done, but sedated. I'm not stupid, i know what i have to do.
