HELP....
I have got a decision to make before 9am tomorrow. The situation is this.
I HAVE MAJOR TOOTHACHE!
Now, i go to the dentist tomorrow, i get a referral to the clinic where they sedate me and i know nothing about it, which could take up to 8 - 10 weeks! OR....i go tomorrow and get it whipped out, there and then - BUT I HATE DENTISTS!
What shall i do?

I find it extremely hard with the agoraphobia to have something like a dental appointment hanging over me for weeks and weeks. It's all-consuming, like life is 'on hold' until I get the goddamn thing over and done with. It's the anticipation of knowing I'm headed for a trap : socially confined, others crowding in on my space, pain, anxiety, escape rendered difficult bla bla ... ugghhh, unbearable, it's the classic agoraphobic scenario :(
About your dilemma : my dentist always recommends extractions for back molars because we don't use them much for chewing. He says they're sorta 'surplus teeth', so extraction is no long term issue. And, it spares one two or three long, expensive and neurotic followup sessions for horrors like root canal and/or crown work. On the other hand he reckons if the problem is one with a major forward chewing molar or a cosmetic front tooth then it's worth patching up to spare one the later hassle and expense of false teeth and looking like a gummy old geezer.
'Scuse the essay of a comment. Hope there's something in here that helps :)
